Edward L. Tibbs

Edward L. Tibbs, 80, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Golden Living Center in La Porte, IN.

He was born February 28, 1942 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Newton Tibbs and Katheryn (McGarity) Tibbs.

Edward was a member of the Mennonite Church, Hudson Lake.  Edward enjoyed working with wood, fixing cars, and also fixing the bicycles of the neighbor children.  He also spent time fishing on the Kankakee River and also Fish Lake.

On October 2, 1993, he married Mary who preceded him in death March, 2001.

He is survived by his three nieces, Ruth Heminger of Hudson Lake, Linda Kenyon of Athens, MI, Ann Bromley of New Carlisle, IN; three nephews, Wayne Heminger of Lafayette, IN, Garry Heminger of South Bend, IN, Scott Heminger of Hudson Lake, IN; as well as many grand nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Floyd Tibbs, Ward Tibbs, John "Bud" Zarr, Vernon Gaw; sisters, Roseanne Tibbs, Lucille Watkins, Eileen White, Dorothy Wooton, Mary Osborne, Shirley Heminger, nieces, JoEllen Bee and Amanda Osborne; nephews, Tommy Osborne, Jeff Wooton; brothers-in-law, Eugene Watkins, Arthur Heminger, sisters-in-law, Shirley Tibbs.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Cremation will take place.  Family to host a graveside service at a later date.
