Zane Hunt

Mr. Zane "Joe" Hunt, age 78, of Rolling Prairie, Ind., died Sunday, December 7, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born on December 7, 1930 in Rolling Prairie, Ind. to the late Charles Hunt and the late Neva Dunifon Hunt. He had lived in the Rolling Prairie, Ind. area, all of his life. On April 18, 1953 in Rolling Prairie, Ind. he married Shirley Miller, who preceded, October 29, 1983. Mr. Hunt was a member of Rolling Prairie First Christian Church. Mr. Hunt graduated from Rolling Prairie High School in 1950. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force. He was co-owner at Hunt's Inc. in Rolling Prairie until the late eighties, he then went to work for the Indiana License Branch in LaPorte, Ind. until he retired. He was a volunteer fireman with the Kankakee Fire Department until he retired. He was elected on the Advisory Board for Kankakee Twp. for 30 years. Mr. Hunt was a Justice of the Peace during the seventies and a member of the Rolling Prairie Masonic Lodge and an American Legion member. He is survived by his; Two Daughters, Mrs. Lori Dale Miller of New Carlisle, Ind., Mrs. Patricia Ron Toth of North Liberty, Ind. Four Grandchildren; Carl Tiffany Miller, Jennifer Miller, Tracey Miller and Ryan Toth; One Sister, Ruth "Sis" Birkenfield of Fort Meyers Beach, FL.; One Brother, William "Bill" Hunt of Wanatah, Ind. Long-time friend- Diane Houseknecht of Rolling Prairie, Ind. Two Nieces; Wanda Rice, Suzie Hunt; Six Nephews, Chuck Hunt, William Hunt, Jr., Chris Hunt, Greg Hunt, Kevin Hunt, Kurt Hunt. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 10:00 AM, until time of service. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Haverstock Funeral Home with Rev. Ransom Ebersole, officiating.
