William H. Shaffer Jr. May 2, 1955 - February 10, 2016 William H. Shaffer Jr. age 60, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving wife. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Leatha A. Shaffer; daughters, Minnie Perkins and Denise Stevens; step son, Kenneth Griffin; step daughters, Kathy (Dale) Beghtel and Elizabeth (Lee) Howard; many grandchildren; special grandson, Justin Griffin; sisters, Doris (Dona) Banks and Ielene (Rodney) Howard; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Minnie Shaffer; brother, Charles Shaffer; grandchildren, Jerry Beghtel and Hannah and Heidi Howard. Jr. was a resident of Kingsford Heights and a 1974 graduate of LaPorte High School where he played baseball. He worked for Polygon for 14 years and was a member of Church of Christ in LaPorte. Jr. was a volunteer for the Kingsford Heights Fire Dept. On July 20, 2002 he married Leatha Bush in Hamlet, IN. Jr. was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN with Minister John Haferkamp officiating. Interment to follow at Walkerton Cemetery.
