William Lewis June 6, 1940-November 10, 2016 William Lewis,76, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday November 10, 2016 at his home in La Porte. He was born June 6, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Mervin "Bud" Clifford Lewis and Betty Marie (Keplin) Lewis. William was a retired lineman/Journeyman for 32 years working for NIPSCO. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge. William was a 1959 graduate of LaPorte High School and attended Valparaiso University. He enjoyed woodworking and building birdhouses and was an avid NASCAR Fan. On April 20, 1973, in La Porte, IN, he married Dolores "Babe" McLaughin Lewis who preceded in death November 22, 2014. He is survived by his three sons, William F. Lewis, Larry (Cindy) Wisler, Danny Wisler; two daughters, Amy (Steve) Mahlka, Vicki (Gene) Church; eight grandchildren, Rue and April Church, Brittany, Jesse, Ryan and Kyle Wisler, Harmonie Emerick, Mike Crane; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Beyer, Jon "Bud" Lewis; two sisters, Jean Miller and Vicki (Jesse) Bair. William was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a daughter, Pamela Crane. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, November 15, 2016, 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday November 15, 2016 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating.
