William Edward Kraus III

November 21, 1972 - June 10, 2023

William Kraus, 50, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday June 10, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.

He was born November 21, 1972 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of William Kraus Jr. and Sally (Anderson) Kraus.

A lifelong resident of the area, William graduated from New Prairie High School in 1991. Following graduation, he worked as a carpenter for the majority of his life. William had a passion for motorcycles, riding for both the American Legion and Guardian Riders. He was an avid Notre Dame, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bears fan. William enjoyed playing slow pitch softball in his earlier years and more recently watching his grandchildren, nieces and nephews playing sports. He had a passion for building things. William's favorite moments often came from helping others; one of his fondest memories was building the wrestling room in Nick's house.

He is survived by his mother, Sally Anderson of South Bend, IN; bonus mom, Lori Kraus of Garrett, IN; brother, Nicholas (Emily) Kraus of Garrett, IN; daughter, Renee (John Plantiga) Kraus of Three Oaks, MI; step-daughter Amber (Mike) Maruszczak; sister, Angela Kraus of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Lucien, Ivory, Luna Marcuszcak, and Lyla Plantiga; nieces and nephews, Harper, Karly, Macy, and Piper; fiancé, Crystal Mullins and daughter, Alexis, of Kingsford Heights, IN; son of Crystal, Nicholas (Kale) Rhodes and one child and his beloved dog, Tiggy.

William was preceded in death by his grandparents, father and son, William Edward Kraus IV.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, June 19, 2023 from Noon to 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery in La Porte, IN at a later date.
