William Engle

William Loyd Engle February 17, 1927-June 23, 2016 William Loyd Engle age 89, peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his children, Meri (late Ed) Mehaffie, James (Kay) Engle, Robert (Brenda) Engle, Judith (John) Sholtis and April (Larry) Hammock; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; brother, Layton (Selma) Engle; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife of 71 1/2 years, Dana Engle; siblings, Mamie Smith, Luie Engle, Luther Engle, Luster Engle, Levi Frank Engle, Etta Mae Alsip and Leora Engle. Mr. Engle was born on February 17, 1927 in Keavy, KY to Levi Madison and Mary Malinda (Eaton) Engle. He proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean Occupation. Bill retired from Modine Manufacturing as a tool and dye setter with over 35 years of service. Loyd was a longtime active member of his church serving in many capacities. Loyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the LaPorte Assembly of God 244 E. Boyd Blvd. LaPorte, IN with Pastors Larry Hammock, Benjamin Engle, Matthew Engle and Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Interment to follow at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 3:00-6:00 PM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN and on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at the church.
