Mr. Wilborn M. Widener, Sr., 70, of Walkerton, Indiana, passed away Saturday May 8, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. He was born March 2, 1940 in Straight Creek, Kentucky, the son of Elijah Widener and Cinda McVay Widener. He lived most of his life in the LaPorte Co., area. Wilborn was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Moose Lodge #492 and the Falcons. Wilborn enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, wine making, and building things. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling, music and playing the harmonica. Wilborn loved being with his family. On October 28, 1958, he married Mari Day, who proceded him in death, May 8, 1981. On June 12, 1999 in Rolling Prairie, IN. he married Diana Michie Widener, who survives. He is also survived by his son - Wilborn Widener, Jr. of LaPorte, IN; five daughters - Connie Hall of Michigan City, IN, Deborah Taylor of Lakeville, IN, Cindy Frank O'Brien of La Porte, IN, Julie Danny Warrix of Stillwell, IN, Tammy Michie of La Porte, IN; eleven grandchildren - Sarah Spencer, Andy Hall, Brad Hall, Erika Hall, Jeremy Widener, Daniel Widener, Jennifer Conn, Charles Schoof, Kyle Denton, Brandy Michie, Tyler Warrix; six great- grandchildren, three sisters; Cora Philpot of Cincinnati, OH, Betty Miller of Arjay, KY, and Sue Nunn of Kittle Island, KY. Wilborn was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Mari Day; son, Johnnie Ray Widener, four brothers, and three sisters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm & Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 11:00 am until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, LaCrosse, Indiana.
