Warren Ohlis

Mr. Warren F. Ohlis, age 85, of La Porte, Ind., died Monday, July 17, 2006, at 7:59 AM at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born January 6, 1921 in LaPorte, Ind. to the late Harry Ohlis and the late Esther Franklin Ohlis. He has been a life long resident of the LaPorte area.Mr. Ohlis was employed by LaPorte Fire Department for 23 years and was a Captain for 4 years. He also was a collector for the LaPorte Bank and Trust for 13 years. He was one of the oldest living members of the First Baptist Church of LaPorte. Mr. Ohlis was a Veteran of the U S Army during WW II, a member of the American Legion Post #83, V.F.W post of LaPorte, F.O.P., Pine Lake Grange, and the LaPorte Elks Club.On March 29, 1941 in LaPorte, Ind. he married Lorraine Price, who survives.He is also survived by his Three Daughters, Mrs. Janet Leo Jongkind of La Porte, Ind., Mrs. Joanne David Neuman of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Barbara Richard Roose of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Five grandchildren, Jeff Neuman, Wendy Neuman, Mike Roose, Greg Roose, Lindsay Jonkind; and Five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 19, 2006 and from 9:00 AM until time of the service Thursday. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 20, 2006. Interment will be at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.Military Honors will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery by the American Legion - VFW Honor Guard of LaPorte.
