Walter E. Wawok December 31, 1936-December 25, 2016 Mr. Walter E. Wawok, 79, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday December 25, 2016 at Franciscan Communities Hospice in Michigan City, IN. He was born December 31, 1936 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Stephen Wawok and Rose (Medzak) Wawok. Walter retired from New York Blower after many years of service. He loved fishing and working on cars. He was an avid video gamer and loved his weekly pizza dates with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his three daughters, Elizabeth (Kenneth) Tanksley, Penny Harde, Brenda (Shawn) Horton; son, Walter A. (DeeDee) Wawok; thirteen grandchildren, Christine Griffin, Amy Bruemmer, Nicholas Korepanow, Sara Korepanow, Alexa Jones, Rebecca Wawok, Steven (Megan) Beach, Ian Beach, Ashly Harde, Taylor (Kyle) Sass, Jessica (Craig) Williams, Daniel Kinsella, Caleb (Rochelle) Kinsella; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Wawok, Casmier Wawok; three sisters, Irene Wawok, Helen Macher, and Sophia Zook. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Joseph Wawok, Emanuel Wawok, Edward Wawok, and a sister, Jeanette Wawok. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, December 27, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 9:00 am, until time of service.. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating.
