Walter Harder

Mr. Walter Henry Harder, age 90, of La Porte, Ind., died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at 11:25 AM at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born June 9, 1915 in LaPorte, Ind. to the late William Harder and the late Anna Felton Harder. He was a resident of the LaPorte Co. area all of his life. Mr. Harder was employed by Modine Mfg., he hauled milk for Lenick's Dairy and Carringer Dairy, he worked in the pasteurizing and bottling department at Lempke's Dairy and he Owned and Operated Kingsbury Elevator for 23 years. After retirement he farmed and raised Livestock. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He was married by Rev. Victor P. Frohne in a home wedding on November 26, 1936 in LaPorte Indiana to Leara Morman who survives. He is also survived by his Son, Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Myrna Harder of La Porte, Ind.; Foster Son, Mr. Ronald Gail Harder of Munster, Ind.; Two grandchildren, Mr. Kevin Lisa Harder of Fishers, Ind., Mrs. Kimberlee Tracy Guthier of Noblesville, Ind.; Two Step-Grandchildren, Ann Gieger of Mishawaka, Ind., Richard Gieger of LaPorte, Ind.; Six great-grandchildren, Kyle Harder, Bryce Harder Paton Harder of Fishers, Ind., Wyatt Guthier, Olivia Guthier, Luke Guthier, of Noblesville, Ind.; One Sister, Mrs. Betty Russ Schlundt of La Porte, Ind.; and One Brother, Mr. Ray Patricia Harder of La Porte, Ind. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, May 12, 2006 and from 1:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2006 until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2006, Rev. Richard N. Henry, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Kingsbury Cemetery in Kingsbury, Ind.
