Walter Gesse

Mr. Walter L. Gesse, age 82, of La Porte, Ind., died 10:05 PM Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born June 11, 1925 in Kouts, Indiana to the late William Gesse and the late Anne Gesse. He has lived in LaPorte area since 1952 coming from Valparaiso, Ind. In 1952 Mr. Gesse co-founded LaPorte Transit Co. with his wife and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was very active with the church; he was past treasurer and on other boards. His #1 passion was his son, Todd and seeing him progress. He was on the New Prairie School Board for 16 years and he enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his children and grandchildren. He was a veteran of the US Army during WW II. On June 18, 1949 in Valparaiso, Ind. he married Charlotte Reed who preceded in death August 28, 2000. He is survived by his Daughter, Mrs. Darla Guthrie of La Porte, Ind.; Five Sons, Mr. Rick Kathy Gesse of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Tim Chris Gesse of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Todd M. Gesse of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Scott Gesse of Fort Wayne, Ind., Mr. Tabb Gesse of La Porte, Ind., Seven grandchildren, Three Brothers, Mr. William Gesse of Kouts, Ind., Mr. Raymond Gesse of Peoria, Ill. and Mr. Paul Gesse of Valpariso, Ind. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, November 30, 2007 and from the St. John Lutheran Church from 9:00 AM Saturday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at St. John Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 1, 2007, Rev. Ronald A. Brauer officiating. Interment will be at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
