Walter C. Cooley Jr. April 30, 1930-February 7, 2018 Walter C. Cooley, Jr., 87, of Niles, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. He was born April 30, 1930 in Harriman, Tennessee, the son of Walter C. Cooley and Pansy (Stamey) Cooley. Walter retired in 1992 after five years working in maintenance for American Home Foods in La Porte. He was a member of Emory Heights Baptist Church in Harriman, Tennessee. On June 10, 1950, in Harriman, Tennessee, he married Margaret (Barger) Cooley who preceded in death September 11, 2005. He is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Strieter of Niles, MI, Beverly Goodman of La Porte, IN; six grandchildren, Wally Goodman of La Porte, IN, Charles Goodman of La Porte, IN, Amanda West of La Porte, IN, Travis Vowels of Niles, MI, Dustin Umphrey of Niles, MI, Noah Cooley of South Haven, MI, Dylan Cooley of South Haven, MI; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Ball of Athens, TN, Jessie M. Jones of Harriman, TN. Walter was preceded in death by both his parents, wife, daughter, Pansey Cooley, son, Mark Cooley, brother, James R. Cooley, and two brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana where the family will receive friends Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday February 13, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor David Adams officiating.
