Walter E. Buckmaster November 11, 1927-December 15, 2014 Mr. Walter E. Buckmaster, 87, of Walkerton, Indiana, died Monday December 15, 2014 at Walkerton-Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton, IN. He was born November 11, 1927 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Clyde Buckmaster and Marie (Goethals) Buckmaster. Walter was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.He was a member of the LaPorte American Legion Post #83. Walter had worked at the Screw Machine Co., Five Star Supermarket, Hamilton Grove Communities and White Farm Equipment. Walter was a Stillwell School graduate, where played basketball. He enjoyed playing word puzzles. He had been married to wife, Margaret (Long) Buckmaster who preceded, second wife,Mildred (Slater) Buckmaster who preceded and first wife, Betty Jean (Gribble) Buckmaster who preceded him in death. He is survived by his two sons, Phillip (Terri) Buckmaster of Walkerton, IN and Michael (Melodie) Buckmaster, Sr. of LaPorte, IN.; numerous step-sons and step daughters; five grandchildren, Michael Buckmaster, Alan Buckmaster, Dawn Buckmaster; Brian Vermilyer, and Blaine Vermilyer; fifteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Sandra) Buckmaster of Walkerton, IN; two sisters, Jean Collings of North Liberty, IN, and Ellen Thomas of La Porte, IN, and many nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, December 18, 2014, from 10:00 am - until time of service. A Memorial Service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday December 18, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Burial of Ashes will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana. at a later date.
