Walter H. Bowen April 27, 1938 - June 29, 2016 Walter H. Bowen age 78, peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Walter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Caroline (Samys) Bowen; children, Kristy (Dave) Kraus, Kerry M. Bowen and Michele (Ron Bromwell) Bowen; grandchildren, Kevin (Stephanie) Kraus, Ryan (Casey) Kraus, Mathew Kraus, Katrina Bromwell and Nathan Bromwell and 9 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Della Bowen; son, Walter Allan Bowen and sisters, June Butts and Virginia Engle. Walter was born in Woodbine , KY and moved with his family to LaPorte, IN when he was 14 years old and attended LaPorte High School. He worked at Pease Studio, and went on to retire from Kingsley Furniture as an upholsterer with 36 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, go-carts, bowling, remodeling projects. Most of all, Walt cherished the time he spent with his family. Walt was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Nate Loucks officiating. Interment to follow at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, July 3, 2016 from 2:00-5:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 10:00 AM until time of service at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Street LaPorte, IN.
