Violet Reed

Mrs. Violet M. Reed, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Friday July 23, 2010 in LaPorte. She was born December 11, 1922 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Frank Gemberling and Bertha Gemberling. Violet was a homemaker. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Violet volunteered with the Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed bowling. On July 4, 1942 in LaPorte, Indiana, she married Robert E. Reed, who preceded her in death on December 13, 1997. She is survived by her son - Robert Reed of La Porte, IN; two nephews - Norman Funk of Indianapolis, IN., William Funk of Tucson, AZ., and one brother-in-law, James Reed of TN. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Richard Gemberling. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. There will be no visitation or no services. Burial of ashes will be held at the Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills, and Indiana.
