Vernice Brooks Hill June 14, 1949-July 17, 2017 Vernice Brooks Hill, 68, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Miller's Health and Rehab in La Porte, Indiana. He was born June 14, 1949 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Vernice Henry Hill and May (Crawley) Gierke. Vernice enjoyed traveling, watching high school sports, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his two sons, Jason Hill of La Porte, IN, Marcus Hill of Lafayette, IN; daughter, Allison Hill of La Porte, IN; three brothers, David (Denise) Gierke of La Porte, IN, Eugene (Gail) Gierke of La Porte, IN, Bruce (Laura) Richardson of Michigan City, IN; four sisters, Ketra Bolster of Hamlet, IN, Darla (Bob) Clark of La Porte, IN, Pat Krassow of Warsaw, IN, Barb (Howard ) Wiggins of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Derek Hill, Danah Hill, Daren Hill; three nephews, Nick Bolster, Jon Clark, Michael Greenwalt; five nieces, Callie Bolster, Melissa Bell, Robin Clark, Asya Blake, Alicia Gierke. Vernice was preceded in death by his step-father, Albert Gierke, Sr., step-mother, Bonnie Hill, brother, Albert Gierke, brother, John Gierke, brother, Donald Gierke, sister, Sandra Hudson, sister, Linette Greenwalt. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at a later date at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
