Mrs. Velma B. Greene, 68, of 2912 Oakdale Street LaPorte, Indiana died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 3:15 AM at Lincolnshire Health Care, Merrillville, Indiana. She was born March 6, 1937 in Murfreesboro, AR, to Jack and Audie Hickley Smith, who has proceeded. Mrs. Greene has lived in the LaPorte area for 30 years, coming from Three Oaks, MI. Mrs. Greene worked for Modern Door, Walkerton, IN, as a Machine Operator, and has retired. Preceded in death is a son, Jerry Greene, three brothers, Bruce Smith, Willie Smith, Jim Smith, two sisters, Lucy Payne, Mary Fryer. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Susan Tony Haines of LaPorte, IN, Mrs. Jeanette Elliott Karbowsky of Kingsford Heights, IN, Mrs. Tammy Campos of LaPorte, IN, a son, Mr. Ray Greene of LaPorte, IN, two sisters, Hazel Winnie of Florida, Martha Smith of Arkansas, and nine grandchildren, Jack Compos of LaPorte, IN, John Jody Greene of LaPorte, IN, Shawn Greene of LaPorte, IN, Crystal Greene of LaPorte, IN, Raychel Greene of Oklahoma, Crystal Greene of Oklahoma, Fantasy Greene of Chicago, IL, Mathew Haines of LaPorte, IN, Mark Haines of LaPorte, IN. Mrs. Greene also has several great-grandchildren. The Funeral will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, on Friday April 22, 2005 at 11:00 AM, friends may call on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Haverstock Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM, until time of service on Friday, April 22, 2005.
