Valentin Macias Camarillo

December 28, 1960-August 19, 2024

Valentin Camarillo, 63, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday August 19, 2024 at Northwest Health-La Porte.

He was born December 28, 1960 in Nochistlan De Mejia, Zacatecas , the son of Jesus Camarillo and Ramona Macias.

Growing up in Zacatecas, Mexico, Valentin's journey began at the age of 17 when he traveled to the United States, spending a few years in California before returning to Mexico to visit family. While visiting family he met the love of his life, Maria Esther (Blanco) Camarillo. The couple were deeply in love, marrying on June 19, 1982, in Mexico, before making their way back to the United States and settling in La Porte, Indiana. Growing up in Mexico, he was an avid bull rider, and had a strong passion for horses. He enjoyed attending horse races and rodeos. Known as a hard worker, he was a steel worker for Teledyne Casting. Every Sunday he would make it to church at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a member. Valentin found pleasure in cooking-his favorite meal to prepare was carnitas, a family favorite. His passion extended to gardening, where he grew vegetables that he used to make his delicious meals. A devoted husband, Valentin adored his wife Maria, often planting roses around their home to bloom during the season. A lively spirit, he and Maria found joy in attending quinceañeras and weddings on YouTube, imagining they were there. He cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking pride in being the family’s dedicated babysitter. Valentin will be missed by all who knew him.

Along with his wife of 42 years, Maria, he is survived by his mother, Ramona Macias of Mexico; five daughters, Erika C (Jorge) Sanchez of La Porte, IN, Rocio (Daniel) Fye of La Porte, IN, Alma (Eber) Medina of South Bend, IN, Adriana (Luis) Zamora of Mishawaka, IN, Priscilla Camarillo of La Porte, IN; eight sisters, Bertha, Teresa, Leticia, Maria, Rosario, Alicia, Guadalupe, Carmen; four brothers, Jesus, Aristeo, Jose, Jamie, and thirteen grandchildren, Jorge, Paulina, Alonzo, Owen, Jose, Giselle, Diego, Elena, Luis, Jessy, Leo, Celina, and Abel.

Valentin was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Camarillo, and brother, Daniel.
