Tina Mumaw, 53, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday January 6, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born August 26, 1971 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Billy Joe Rice and Janice Leigh (Pearish) Rice, both who preceded her in death.
A lifelong resident of the area, Tina graduated from Westville High School in 1989, before attending Wesleyan University, where she received her Bachelor of Business Management degree.. She dedicated her professional life to the field of health care, working in medical records at Northwest Health Porter Hospital. On December 7, 2002, at the Presbyterian Church of La Porte, she married the love of her life, Thomas Lee Mumaw, who survives. Beyond her professional endeavors, Tina found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for cooking and a particular fondness for planting flowers. Tina was not only an advocate for animals but also demonstrated this dedication through her actions, fostering numerous stray cats until they could be rescued or adopted into loving homes. Tina deeply cherished her family, embracing holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving with warmth and love. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, kindness, and the presence of her many pets, each one a testament to her nurturing heart.
Along with her husband of 22 years, Tina is survived by her; brother, Tom (Jeanne) Jenks of Bristol, IN; sister, Kim Grace of La Porte, IN; four nieces, Shelbi (Clint) Comadoll of Bristol, IN, Alyssa (Alex) Carmean of Rossville, IL, Lyndsi Grace of La Porte, IN, Olivia (Dylan) Stoll; two nephews, Evan Grace of La Porte, IN, Ian Jenks; several great-nieces and-great nephews and her precious cats, Izzyboo, Sam, Sophie, Mama, Milo, Otis and Callie.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Monday, January 13 from 10 am until service time at 11 am. Chaplain Karyn Kost, VNA Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
