Thomas Wayland Wing July 8, 1931-April 5, 2014 Tom Wing, age 82, longtime resident of La Porte Ind., passed away peacefully on April 5, 2014 at The Knolls of Oxford in Oxford Ohio. Tom was born July 8 1931 in Dayton, Ohio, to Wayland and Geraldine (Pratt) Wing who preceded him in death. Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Marianne Wright. On October 2, 1954 at the First Methodist Church Tom was married to Lois Jean Robe who preceded Tom in death in July 1995. Tom retired from NIPSCO in 1994. Tom served in the Army during the Korean conflict until his discharge in 1954. In 1995, Tom became life partners with Maureen (Robe) Detrick of Bradenton FL. Tom is survived by his partner, Maureen Detrick of Bradenton. Tom is also survived by his children, Douglas (Joyce) Wing of Walnut Creek, California, Daniel (Debbie) Wing of Daytona Beach Florida, Dale (Anne) Wing of Simi Valley, California, and Sharon (Michael) Fricke of Brookville, Indiana, 7 grandchildren: Krista Fay, Tyler Fricke, Brittney Kocaj, Janette Wing, Amelia Wing, Iris Fricke, Isabelle Wing, and Austin Wing; and 3 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Tuesday April 15, 2014 from 10:00 am until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., April 15 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment of ashes will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. A luncheon will follow for friends and family, at Spire Farm to Fork at Legacy Hills Golf Club. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to the American Diabetes Association. or to the Honor Flight Network that provides for veterans to visit Washington D.C. and their memorials.
