Thomas E. Griffin November 18, 1940-December 10, 2018 Thomas E. Griffin, 78, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018 at his residence in La Porte, Indiana. He was born November 18, 1940 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Benjamin Griffin and Ruth (Bartz) Griffin. Thomas retired in 2003 after thirty-four years from New York Blower as a special machine operator. He was also honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving his country from 1963-1965, as a military flight air controller. Thomas loved to travel highway Route 66 across the U.S. all the way to California. His favorite hobby was restoring classic cars, he especially loved his 1967 Red Mustang Convertible and his two Lincolns. On September 1, 1976, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he married Barbara (Gibson) Griffin who preceded in death January 21, 2014. He is survived by his sister, Mary L. Manering of Plymouth, IN; brother, Ronald (Mary) Griffin of Saint Joseph, MI; sister-in-law, Helen Griffin of La Porte, IN; several nieces and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by both his parents; sister, Joan Genevieve Goers, brother, John W Griffin. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana. Cremation has taken place. A life celebration will be announced at a later date.
