Susan J Hayes, 79, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully, Wednesday December 21, 2022 at Northwest Health La Porte with family by her side.

She was born January 17, 1943 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs.Texas O. Minter who precedes her in death.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rashonda (Rocky) Colston of La Porte, IN, Rachelle (Kenneth) Watt of La Porte, IN; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Makayla) Smith, Kenny Watt, Lindsey Watt, Cameren (Hannah) Watt, Hunter Watt, Todd (Hannah Solar) Colston, Tayla (Nathan Lloyd) Colston; six great-grandchildren, Asher, Coleson, Travis, Isaiah, Hudson, and Henry.

A resident of the area for most of her life, Susan was first a member of the Westville United Methodist Church and then later attended the Salem Chapel United Methodist Church. She was very active with the church, where she enjoyed volunteering at the vacation bible camp and assisting with the Port-o-Pit fundraisers. Susan found the most joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always sure to attend each of her kids’ events. She had a love for reading and particularly enjoyed mystery and suspense novels.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Services will be private, with interment to follow at Salem Heights Cemetery.
