Shelley James-Ewert

Shelley K. James-Ewert went home to the Lord January 31, 2008 after a long struggle with Muscular Dystrophy. Shelley was born in LaPorte, Indiana, March 24, 1962 on her Uncle Dave's birthday. She is survived by her father Robert L. James and her mother Laureen James both of LaPorte, Ind. She was the cherished mother of daughter Elizabeth Ann Ewert of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by her sister Lori James, brother Mike Pam James, nephews Stephen and Corey James all of LaPorte, Ind., and her niece Jasmine James of Union Mills, Ind. as well as several aunts and uncles and cousins. Shelley graduated from LaPorte High School in 1980, belonged to the LaPorte Co. Sheriff's Dept. Cadet Program, and was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. Shelley was a resident at Our Lady of Holy Cross nursing facility at San Pierre from November 2006 until July 2007. While there she made many dear friends, enjoyed the activities and volunteered in the gift shop. Shelley was preceded in death by her beloved sister Rhonda, her grandparents Murray and Maragret Peery, Merl and Gladys James and a niece Ashleigh James. A Memorial Service will be held for Shelley on February 16th at 1:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church 1808 W. 18th Street LaPorte, Ind., with Pastor Curtis Southwood officiating. Cremation has taken place with Haverstock Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
