Sharon K. Hoffmann, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 at Trustwell Living at Settlers Place in La Porte, IN. with her family be her side.

 

She was born August 17, 1939, in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Richard Burdine and Gladys (Simonton) Burdine.

 

On February 7, 1959, in Knox, IN, she married Richard Hoffmann who preceded in death.

 

She is survived by her three children, Jerry Hoffmann of La Porte, James (Cindy) Hoffmann of La Porte, Jacqueline (John) Salyer of La Porte; 2 grandchildren, John Salyer of Michigan City, Jennifer (Jonah) Salyer of La Porte; 4 great-grandchildren, Hadlee Salyer, Connor Salyer, Gianna Salyver, and Amelia Pacione.

 

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Nick" Hoffmann; parents, Richard and Gladys Burdine; brother, Dennis Burdine.

 

Sharon worked at Garwood Orchards for many years of her life. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in La Porte where she served as a member of the women's guild, a Sunday school teacher and the financial secretary. Sharon was also involved in Cub Scouts as a leader and a den mother. For many years she was involved in the 4H Rabbit Club alongside her children.

 

Sharon and Richard enjoyed traveling, especially in the southwestern states, with her favorite being Arizona. Sharon's passion was spending time with her family and raising her beautiful Collies, both of which she loved dearly. 

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A private Celebration of Life will be scheduled later. Cremation has taken place with her cremated remains being buried at the Swan Lake Cemetery of Michigan City.
