Sally Russell, 72, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully Monday, April 24, 2023 at Northwest Health in La Porte, IN.

She was born May 16, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John Kupres and Barbara (Cartwright) Kupres.

Sally moved to the area from Chicago 47 years ago. On June 29, 1968 she married the love of her life, Pete Russell at St. Peter's Catholic Church in La Porte. Sally worked as a purchaser for La Porte Hospital for 17 years, then as a secretary for Schmidt & Kaylor Accountants for 12 years, when she retired. She was also a consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics for 26 years. A current member of the Friendship Baptist Church, Sally was also a member of the Polish Falcons Nest 564 and was a member and 10 year President of the La Porte PNA. She spent much of her free time in the outdoors where she enjoyed bird watching and gardening. Together, Sally and Pete traveled often to Myrtle Beach, SC. She embraced the warm, summer months swimming and having pool parties with friends and family around the Fourth of July. When not outdoors she would cozy up with a good book or work hard on puzzle solving.

Sally is survived by her son, Shane (Terisa) Russell of Columbia, SC; two brothers, John (Vicki) Kupres of La Porte, IN, Jeff (Jackee) Kupres of La Porte, IN; four sisters, Susan Lindsey of La Porte, IN, Sharon (Dale) Reitz of Three Oaks, MI, Sandy (Dennis Vincent) Kupres of Columbia, SC, Sharlene "Cha" Chapman of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Kyle Russell, Zachary Russell, Cory Russell, and Christina Russell; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents and son, Tobey Russell.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, May 1, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with The Reverend Larry Delli, officiating. Cremation will take place.
