Ruth Stearns

Mrs. Ruth R. Stearns, 78, of 0855W CR-900N, LaPorte, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 9 a.m. at her home. She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Joseph B. and Theresa Yankin Reinhard and lived in the LaPorte area for many years. Mrs. Stearns was a homemaker. On April 9, 1946, in Elizabeth, she married Kenneth P. Stearns, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Timothy C.; one sister, Sophie Duboyce; and two brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Susan Rod Hodgson of Greenville, S.C.; three grandchildren, Kelly Hawkins and Brian and David Rzyski; and two great-grandchildren. There will be no service or visitation. Burial of ashes will take place at Heckman Cemetery, LaPorte. Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, is in charge of arrangements.
