Ruth Peterson

Ruth S. Peterson, 78, of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Saturday April 2, 2011 at Eagle Creek Health & Rehab Center in Indianapolis, IN. She was born February 9, 1933 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of James Henry Krout and Zetta Marie (Ostermeyer) Krout-Fisher. Ruth had been owner and manager of Ruth's Restaurant for fourteen years, she retired in 1989. She was a member of First Church of God. On June 22, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky, she married Wayne L. Peterson, who preceded on May 29, 1969. Remarried on June 6, 1970 in LaPorte, Indiana to James R. Newton, who preceded her on February 12, 1973. She is survived by her daughter - Marcia (Mark) Rodgers of Indianapolis, IN; two sons - John Peterson of Walkerton, IN, Jeffery (Lisa) Peterson of Greenwood, IN; ten grandchildren; twelve great- grandchildren; two step-sisters - Harrietta of Michigan City, IN, Alice of La Porte, IN; three half-sisters - April Lumm of Michigan City, IN; Laurie Burkowski of La Porte, IN; Sandy of La Porte, IN, two half-brothers - Tom Krout of La Porte, IN, Ricky L. Krout of Springville, IN. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne L. Peterson and 2nd husband, James R. Newton; son, Ralph Peterson, half-brother, Jackie Krout; half-sister, Nadia Hunt Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 1:00 pm, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Sunday April 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jeff Zigler officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
