Ruth Palm

Mrs. Ruth N. Palm, 92, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away, Thursday May 20, 2010 at Brentwood Assisted Living in La Porte. She was born August 13, 1917 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence Ashley and Ethel Bestle Ashley. Ruth has lived in the LaPorte, area, since 1939 coming from South Bend, Indiana. Ruth was a RN staff nurse for LaPorte Hospital for many years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, and former member of the Elks and Lionettes. On September 17, 1939, in South Bend, IN, she married George Palm who preceded her in death June 1, 2008. She is survived by her two sons - Alan Lynn Palm of Olathe, KS, Robert Karen Palm of Henderson, KY; five grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; one brother - Warren Ashley of South Bend, IN; one sister - Betty Slater of Yorba Linda, CA. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Jean Collins, and one son, Richard Palm. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Monday, May 24, 2010 from 10:00 am, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday May 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
