Russell Marquardt

Mr. Russell W. Marquardt, age 90, of La Porte, Ind., died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born on March 4, 1918 in LaCrosse, Ind. to the late William Marquardt and the late Ella Werner Marquardt. Russell had lived in the LaPorte, Ind. area, all of his life. Mr. Marquardt was self-employed as a carpenter, specializing in remodeling, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in LaPorte, Ind. and was a member of the Men's Club Of St. Paul's. On February 15, 1947 in LaPorte, Ind. he married Phyllis R. Peterson, who survives. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Phyllis Marquardt of LaPorte, Ind.; One Daughter, Becky Larry Pierce of Kingsford Heights, Ind.; One Son, William Peggy Marquardt of La Porte, Ind.; Five grandchildren; Seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; Son, Curt Marquardt; Two Sisters, Myrtle Wilinski and Gladys Brennen; and One Brother, Melvin L. Marquardt. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2009 and from 12:00 PM Saturday, January 3, 2009, until time of service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 1:30 PM Saturday, January 3, 2009, with Rev. Helen Nusbaum, and Rev. Victor M. Frohne officiating. Burial will be in the Patton Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
