Russell Kleine, Sr.

Mr. Russell Kleine, Sr., age 82, of La Porte, Ind., died 4:00 PM Monday, October 29, 2007, at her home in La Porte, Ind. He was born July 22, 1925 in Michigan City, Ind. to the late Howard Kleine and the late Myrtle Robinson Kleine. She has lived most of her life in the LaPorte area. Mr. Kleine, Sr. was employed by LaPorte Co. Highway Dept. where he worked on the Bridge Crew and retired in 1987. He was a veteran of US Navy during WW II. In later years he owned his own landscaping business and was well known for his beautiful rockwork landscaping. He was an avid Gardener and took special pride in his trees. Bob was also a skilled carpenter passing on much of his knowledge to his sons. Through the years, Bob kept not only his bride laughing with his amazing non-stop humor but also his children and now his grandchildren. Although he used his sense of humor and wit to get him through most days, his family will remember that he was always rock-solid and ready to help anyone at anytime. He was truly a giving man who always cared about his family, if you needed him he was there. Bob loved fishing, cleaning and eating snapping turtles and watching the different birds that would visit the elaborate birdhouse that he designed and built. On December 24, 1945 in LaPorte, Ind. he married Joyce O. White, who survives. He is also survived by his Daughter Mrs. Roxane Terry Cooper of New Carlisle, Ind.; Six Sons, Mr. Richard Kleine of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Randy Debra Kleine of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Robert Carla Kleine of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Ronald Nadine Kleine of New Carlisle, Ind., Mr. Rodney Kleine of New Carlisle, Ind., Mr. Rockne Joe Kleine of Westville, Ind. Twelve Grandchildren, Russell Jennifer Kleine, III, Shane Rone' Kleine, Milissa Pennington, Sam Halter, Kim Mark Kleinheksel, Sarah Kleine, Kyle Kleine, Kody Kleine, Zachariah Lopez, Dewayne Shelly McGann, Skyler Kleine, Tiffany Cooper; Numerous Great Grandchildren; Two Brothers, Jack "Don" Lynda Kleine of Westville, Ind. and Joe "Ron" Barbara Kleine of Nolensville, Tenn. He is preceded in death by his parents One Son, Howard Kleine; One Brother Howard Kleine and Two Sisters, Lillian Haack and Kathryn Kelly. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2007. Private Family Burial will be Saturday, November 3, 2007. Interment will be at Kingsbury Cemetery in Kingsbury, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 9135 N.
