Ruby C. Stringer May 4, 1930-March 29, 2017 Ruby C. Stringer, 86, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Miller's Health and Rehab in LaPorte, Indiana. She was born May 4, 1930 in Corbin, Kentucky, to the late Clarence and Esther (Alsip) Bunch. On February 10, 1972, in Kingsford Heights, Indiana she married John Stringer who preceded her in death June 9, 1974. Ruby retired from American Home Foods in 1982 after 17 years. She also worked as a waitress for many local restaurants and was in charge of the Soup Kitchen for the Salvation Army. Ruby enjoyed playing bingo, and also enjoyed story-telling with residence and staff at Miller's Health and Rehab in LaPorte. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie (George) Burgess of Flint, MI; two sons, Steve Chance of San Diego, CA, Ron (Linda) Chance of La Porte, IN; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Houser of Corbin, KY., and Wilma Cloud of Corbin, KY; one brother, L. B. Bunch of Clarksville, IN. She was preceded in death by one grandson, one great-grandson, two sisters, and five brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana where the family will receive friends on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday, April 3, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. James L. Johnson officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Pine Lake Cemetery.
