Roxanna "Roxie" Hawkins, 58, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Thursday October 17, 2024 at Brickyard Fountianview Terrace in La Porte, IN.

She was born February 5, 1966 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Warren Howard and Catherine M Howard.

A proud graduate of New Prairie High School, class of 1987, Roxie's journey took her beyond the classroom and into the heart of her town. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rolling Prairie for many years. She dedicated herself to her work as a retail clerk at Al's Grocery Store, where her infectious smile and friendly demeanor created a welcoming atmosphere for shoppers. She loved walking around La Porte, as she strolled with a cheerful spirit, never failing to greet others with a smile. To Roxie, there was no such thing as a stranger, only potential friends awaiting the opportunity to connect. Her hugs were warm and loving for those fortunate enough to receive them. She enjoyed watching retro sitcoms on the television and also playing games on her iPhone during commercial breaks. Roxie loves animals, especially her dog Gracey. Above all Roxie's greatest love was her family. She will be missed by all who have met her. 

She is survived by her mother, Iva Wasielewski; three brothers, David (Sandy) Wasielewski, Art Wasielewski, Jr., Russell; sister, Karen (Glenn) Swanson, and uncle, Sam. 

Roxanna was preceded in death by her father and brother, Howard.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. The family has selected cremation. A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring.
