Ronald "Ronnie" Strauch

July 31, 1971 — August 8, 2023

Ronald " Ronnie" Ernest Strauch

July 31, 1971-August 8, 2023

Ronnie Ernest Strauch was welcomed into this world on July 31, 1971, by his mother, Carol (Gladden) Strauch. For reasons we will never understand, he departed this life in La Porte on August 8, 2023, and was reunited with his son, Cody, who sadly preceded him in death in 2017 at the age of 20.

Ronnie was the youngest of five children, a group who have the craziest sibling memories you'll ever hear. He leaves behind his 3 brothers, Roger (Patti), Rick (Jen), Ryan (Carrie) and sister, Ranell.

Ronnie worked for Woodruff and Sons for 22 years and was a member of Teamsters Local 135. Technically, he was a truck driver and also a mechanic there, but anyone that knew Ronnie knew that he would do any job that needed to be done, whether it was his to do or not. For the past 38 years, Ronnie's other work passion was his tree service. Very well known around the community, he was always sought after for his skill at dropping trees-always right on top of the Mountain Dew can he would set down and say, "That's where it's going". Riding motorcycles was always a beloved pastime also, (when there happened to be free time) leading him to be a member of Abate for 28 years. Ronnie was also Vice President of Cody's Community, a non-profit named for his son, Cody. The true sparkle in his eyes, anymore, was brought on only by his daughter Kailin, who he lovingly nicknamed "Boo" because of their favorite movie, Monsters, Inc. Boo heartbreakingly survives her dad and strives to carry on his legacy of pouring his love into his children, his knack for knowing how to fix almost anything and never knowing a stranger. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

So many people were lucky enough to be friends with Ronnie. But the select few that held a special place in his heart were his stand-in "dad", Pete "Pa" Oberholtzer; his best bud, Tom Heil; his longtime "brothers", Jim "Little Jim" Lewis and David "Davey" Hill and his right-hand man, Jake "Son" Dockery. He was preceded in death by another "brother", Ed "Eddie B" Byers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave, La Porte, IN where a visitation will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Ronnie's life funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home, with Pastor Ransom Ebersole, officiating. Cremation will take place.

Please dress casually as you know Ronnie would-he always hated wearing the "monkey suits".  And if you would prefer making a donation in his honor instead of sending flowers, please make them to his daughter, Kailin.
