Ronald Hawkins

Ronald P. Hawkins, 70, of Hamlet, IN, died Friday June 17, 2011 at his home. He was born November 10, 1940 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Edward Hawkins and Barbara (Perry) Hawkins. He lived in the Hamlet, area for fifteen years, coming from Whiting, Indiana. Ronald worked as a crane operator for LTV Steel Mill, retiring after forty years. For the last ten years he has been working part-time for Kabelins. Ronald enjoyed working on the computer and doing gardening. He liked to joke around and enjoyed cooking. Ronald also enjoyed visiting and helping friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. On May 14, 1966, in Whiting, IN, he married Jeanette (Adam) Hawkins who survives. He is also survived by his brother - Tom (Terri) Hawkins of Detroit, MI; two sisters - Nancy (Ken) Vanlul and Sue Williams both of LasVegas, NV; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law - Mary Jane Adam of Whiting, IN. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 9:30 am to 10:00 am at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1849 Lincoln Avenue, Whiting, Indiana 46394, on Friday June 24, 2011 at 10:00 am with Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S. officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John / St. Jospeh Cemetery, 1547 167th St. Hammond, IN 46320. Memorial contributions may be made to the The Family of Ronald P. Hawkins.
