Ronald Max Chambers, 84, of Kingsford Heights, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Northwest Health, La Porte.
He was born March 31, 1936 in Sullivan, Indiana, the son of Russell and Ruby (Plummer) Chambers.
On April 29, 1961, in Linton, IN, he married Janice Chambers who preceded him in death September 19, 1995. A resident of the area for over 50 years, Ronald served in the U.S. Army and Army reserves in the 60s, then worked as a machine operator for NY Blowers until retirement in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion, Kingsford Heights and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2439, La Porte. Ronald loved fishing, his crossword puzzles and watching Cartoons and PBS. You might have seen him sitting on his porch swing or in his favorite rocking chair. "The Can Man", as he was fondly referred to, was also proud to pick up aluminum cans as he spotted them.
He will be sadly missed by his family, including his son, Mark (Marie) Chambers of Kingsford Heights, IN; two daughters, Amy (Jeff Rizek) Chambers of Kingsford Heights, IN, Lisa (Kenny) Schuman of Hamlet, IN; grandchildren, Allene (Jake) Eisle, Matt (Miranda) Chambers, Adam(Austin Hathaway) Chambers, Tracy (Jenna Payne) Bradley, Shannon(Darrell) Griffith, Danielle (Ronald) Clay, Breanne McCaulley, Amanda(Kevin) Jones, Jasmine(Chad)Miller, Jacob(Erica) Rizek, Dakota (Abby) Beckingham, Kaylee(Logan) Beckingham, Khloe Beckingham, Kayden Schuman, Brooklyn(Jordan) Schuman, Dylan(Katie) Schuman, Hunter(Maddie) Schuman; great-grandchildren, Gabbye, Gabe, Gracie and Grissom Griffith, Aaliyah David, Baylee and Kayelynn Eisle, Matthew McCauley, Emmett Clay, Jayden and Lilliana Miller, Skarlette and Jasper Rizek, Zara McCumber, Ashton Beckingham, Jaxon Schuman, Payten Pozywala, Eli Schuman and Everly Schuman.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Janice.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends for a public visitation, Tuesday, March 9 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The family has requested a private funeral service, with burial at Pine Lake Cemetery next to his wife. Masks and social distancing are required for anyone attending, per Indiana executive order.
