Roger Norman Carlson February 3, 1939 - March 9, 2014 Roger Norman Carlson, born February 3, 1938; died March 9, 2014. Loving partner of William T. Wilson, dear friend of Alice E. Moss; fond brother of Doris E. (Thomas) Brand, uncle to Christopher (Tiffany) Brand and Suzanne Brand; loving son of the late Helen and Otto Carlson. Roger worked as a teacher and administrator in the Chicago Public Schools for 35 years. He taught art in both the elementary and high school; served as an art supervisor, as well as a curriculum director for the fine arts in the school system. He created the Art Mobile program, the first art classroom that traveled around the city, serving children in the inner city. Roger was a consummate artist and musician who shared his talents with numerous organizations and groups. He was President of the Art Barn in Valparaiso, Indiana and exhibited yearly at the Schoolhouse in Chesterton, Indiana. For many years, he collaborated with his partner to take student members of the Hubbard High School Chorus on concert trips to Europe, Canada, and the United States. He will be sorely missed by his partner, family, and by many of his dear friends in both the academic and arts world. Memorial contributions may be made to the: Chicago Teacher's Aid Fund 20 E.
