Robert Vantine

Robert J. Vantine January 26, 1938-January 24, 2017 Mr. Robert J. Vantine, 78, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday January 24, 2017 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born January 26, 1938 in La Porte, the son of Ralf Vantine and Hulda (Gierke) Vantine. Robert was a farmer his entire life in La Porte County. He enjoyed taking his antique tractors to shows and visiting with everyone there. Everyone looked for Bob at the La Porte County Fair with is International 1206 in the recent years, before that he was there for the tractor pulls. He was a former 4H Leader, member of the Farm Bureau Board of Directors, the Sunday Farmers, and Chapter 33 International Club. On June 25, 1960, in La Porte, he married Rita A. (Lee) Vantine of La Porte, who survives. He is also survived by his special nephews, Doug and Chris Hedington; niece, Debbie Podemski; sister, Betty (Fred) Hedington. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert W. Vantine. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, January 26, 2017, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Friday, January 27, 2017, from 9:00 am to time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday January 27, 2017 at 10:00 am with Rev. Jay Loucks and Lynn Breeden officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church 6006 N. Fail Rd. LaPorte, IN 46350.
