Robert W. Swanson, 80, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Monday July 1, 2024 at Northwest Health - La Porte.

 He was born July 31, 1943 in Portage, Indiana, the son of Harold Swanson and Dorothy (Keoppen) Swanson.

Robert grew up in Portage, Indiana on the family Dairy Farm, graduated from Portage High, then went on to receive his Masters Degree at Indiana University, where he worked as a math professor for several years. In 1974, Bob moved to Rolling Prairie to work on his family's new Swanson Dairy Farm. Bob was a farmer at heart and dearly loved every moment of it. He loved riding his International Harvester tractor and making hay. When he could no longer farm, he worked cleaning up fence lines for other farmers, cutting and splitting the wood, then delivering it so he could socialize about the farms. Bob was a member of the Indiana Dairy Herd Association, loved watching IU basketball, and generously supported the New Prairie cross-country track program. He was a Christian man who showed his faith with his everyday actions.

Bob is survived by his close friend and caregiver, Donald (Bonnie) Stoner of Rolling Prairie, IN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; "Auntie" Ruth Swanson; brother, Duane Swanson and sister, Ruth (Richard) Johnson.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 for a visitation from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, Portage, Indiana.
