Robert L. Pointon September 28, 1935-March 24, 2014 Mr. Robert L. Pointon, 78, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Monday March 24, 2014 at Franciscan Communities Hospice in Michigan City, IN. He was born September 28, 1935 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Charles W. Pointon and Theresa T. (Olwaska) Pointon. Robert worked forty-four years as a service application specialist for Weil-McLain, retiring in 2000, he also worked for Liston L. Brown as an association broker. He was a member of (NICET) National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology, American Legion Post #83 of LaPorte, Indiana Sherifff's Association, AARP, Loyal Order of Moose #492 of LaPorte, Pottawatomie Moose Lodge #94.Veteran of the US Navy, during the Korean Conflict. On June 2, 1962, in LaPorte, IN, he married Deanna K. (Brown) Pointon who preceded him in death July 19, 2000. He is survived by his 2 god-children - Tracy (Marvin) Hurt of La Porte, IN,and Lori Hagglund of La Porte, IN; special niece and family - Lisa (Mike) Pierzakowski of La Porte, IN; and brother-in-law - Gary Brown of Taylor, LA. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends, Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and from Friday, March 28, 2014 from 9:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday March 28, 2014 at 10:00 am with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating. The LaPorte Moose Lodge #492 will conduct at service at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. A Military Service will be conducted by the LaPorte Honor Guard at the cemetery.
