Robert Pierce

Robert Lee Pierce February 22, 1922 - April 5, 2016 Robert L. Pierce age 94, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in Lakeland, FL. He is survived by his sons, Larry (Becky) Pierce of Kingsford Heights, IN, Terry (Rose) Pierce of Plattsburg, MO and Wayne (Beth) Pierce of Auburndale, FL; 29 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and 6 great- great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry and Lina Pierce; wife, Lucille Pierce and 12 sisters and brothers. Bob was born in Central City, KY and moved to LaPorte at age 16. On October 23, 1943 he married Lucille Stolte in LaPorte, IN. Bob proudly served our country in the US Army during WWII. He retired from Allis Chalmers with 41 years of service. He was a member of the Door Village Lions Club and the American Legion Post #83. He was active in Cub Scouts and the Over 40's Dance Club. Bob played baseball for the Isleman Cubs in LaPorte and was instrumental in organizing the LaPorte Little League and Junior Baseball program. He was also a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Wanatah, IN. Bob was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN with Rev. Craig Forwalter officiating. Interment to follow at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
