Robert E. Nell, II April 8, 1946-March 26, 2018 Robert E. Nell, II, 71, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at his home in La Porte, Indiana. He was born April 8, 1946 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Robert E. Nell and Betty Jane (Magley) Nell. Robert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of La Porte. He enjoyed fishing, boating, reading western books, and doing woodworking. One of his greatest joys was working and selling cars, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. On May 11, 1987 he married Sharon Chlebowski Nell who survives in La Porte, Indiana. He is also survived by his four sons, Robert E. Nell, III, James R. Umphrey, Michael L. Umphrey, Shawn Donahoe; three daughters, Kimberly K. Aust, Tiffany N. Nell, Lisa (John) Cox; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie (Fred) Pawlack, Mary Rajski, Janie (Jim) Clauser. Robert was preceded in death by both his parents; brother-in-law, Bob Rajski, grandson, Dallas E. Donahoe. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Indiana where the family will receive friends Friday, March 30, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday March 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William O'Tool officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana at a later date.
