Robert L. McLean January 8, 1927-March 21, 2014 Mr. Robert L. McLean, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday March 21, 2014 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born January 8, 1927 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Charles A. McLean and Frances (Hatfield) McLean. Robert owned and operated H and B Equipment of Plymouth, IN (an Allis Chalmers Dealer) and later worked as a salesperson for John Deere of Valparaiso. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European theater during WW II. On October 2, 1948, in La Porte, IN, he married Doris Thornburg McLean who survives. He is also survived by his sister - Charlotte (Richard) Ott of La Porte, IN; brother-in-law - Myron "Whitey" Thornburg of La Porte, IN and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Wednesday March 26, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
