Robert L. Stevens June 1, 1942-April 3, 2015 Mr. Robert L. Stevens , 72, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday April 3, 2015 at his home. He was born June 1, 1942 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Don L. Stevens and Frances (Shoemaker) Stevens. Robert worked as a Teamster Truck Driver for 35 years at La Porte Transit and after retirement he worked at Tony's Small Engine Repair. Robert graduated in 1960 from Rolling Prairie High School and he was a member of the Rolling Prairie Conservation Club. Robert has a 1950 Studebaker and a 1963 Chevrolet Impala that he loved to take to car shows and cruise nights though out the area. He always enjoyed meeting up with other car enthusiasts. On June 6, 1980, in Rolling Prairie, IN, he married Shirley M. Feece who preceded him in death on October 28, 2008. He is survived by his three daughters, Bobbie Maesch of Rolling Prairie, IN, Jeri Stevens of Wanatah, IN, Jodi Stevens of Niles, MI; step-daughter, Tina (Kurt) Randall of New Carlisle, IN; step-son, Tony Tarnow of Rolling Prairie, IN; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; four brothers, Larry Stevens of Venice Beach, FL, Al Stevens of La Porte, IN, Jim Lee of Saint Paul, MN, and Bruce Lee of Carmel, IN. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Therman Lee. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, April 8, 2015, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Thursday, April 9, 2015, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday April 9, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kankakee Twp. Volunteer Fire Department..
