Robert Holmes

Mr. Robert E. Holmes, age 64, of La Porte, Ind., died Monday, July 14, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born Sept. 24, 1943 in Huntington, Ind. to the late Oved Holmes and Melba White Holmes. Mr. Holmes was a loan workout officer for Horizon Bank for the last 39 years and was a member of The New Church. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and a member of V.F.W. Post #1130 of LaPorte. On April 4, 1965 in La Porte, Ind. he married Gail Mounce who survives. He is also survived by his Daughter, Rena E. Charles Holmes Martin of Longmont, Colo.; Two Sons, Robert S. Summer Nehl Holmes of La Porte, Ind., Brian A. Holmes of Union Mills, Ind.; Seven Grandchildren, Andrew A., Madelyn M., Maxwell R., Joseph L., Brock S., Tyler R. Nehl, Mackenzie R. Nehl; Mother, Melba L. Holmes Evory; Sister, Pamela Holmes of Walkerton, Ind.; Brother, Donald Holmes of La Porte, Ind. He is preceded in death by his Father and a Sister, Sharon Bennitt. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008 and from 2:30 until time of the service on Friday. A memorial service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home at 3:30 PM Friday, July 18, 2008, Rev. Freeman Schrock officiating. Interment of ashes will be at Pine Lake Cemetery.
