Robert Hansen

Mr. Robert Charles "Swede" Hansen, 81, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Monday February 23, 2009 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. He was born December 4, 1927 in Gary, Indiana, the son of George H. Hansen and Winifred K. Pollard Hansen. Robert had moved from Gary, IN to LaPorte, IN in January of 1975. Robert worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for Dye's Plumbing & Heating for fourteen years, retiring in 1992, he worked for Local 20 for forty-five years. Robert was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of LaPorte, Past member of the Moose Lodge, Over 40 Dance Club. Robert was a Veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Robert served as an umpire/referee for LaPorte Park Dept. and IHSS throughout Indiana. On December 30, 1988, in LaPorte, IN, he married Nancy L. Imel, who survives. He is survived by his Wife, Nancy L. Hansen of La Porte, IN, six daughters, Darla L.Dennis Robinson of Hobart, IN., Donna L. Dave Casson of Portage, IN. Belinda L. Terry Potts of Portage, IN. Dena L. Rod Speiss of WI., Kitti A. Dennis Euler of Kingsford Heights, IN. Elizabeth Bill Hansen of Hamlet, IN., three sons, Erik K. Hansen of Los Angeles, CA, Marvin L. Polstra of Indianapolis, IN., Kevin L. Polstra of Orlando, FL, Fifteen Grandchildren, Eight Great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Winifred K. Hansen, father, George H. Hansen, Four Sisters, Three Brothers and One Grandson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, February 27, 2009 9:00 am - until time of service. Funeral Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Schereville, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice.
