Mr. Robert E. Johnson, 84, of 308 Lakeshore Dr. LaPorte, Indiana died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 9:00 PM at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, Indiana. He was born June 13, 1920 in Chase, Indiana, to Claude C. and Grace Edward Johnson, who has proceeded. Mr. Johnson lived in LaPorte since 1927, coming from Chase, Indiana. Mr. Johnson owned and operated, Robert E. Johnson Ins. Agency- Insurance Agent, retiring in the 1990?s. Robert sold his Insurance agency to Dick Tillinghast; and worked for him for an addional 5 years. Mr. Johnson started in the Insurance business in 1946. Mr. Johnson was a member of the First Christian Church, Excelsior Lodge #41 F. &A.M., Scottish Rites of South Bend, Orak Shrine, Former member of the Kiwanis Club of LaPorte, served 25 years on the YMCA Board of directors and a Veteran of the US Army during WWII, Barber Shop Chorus for 36 years. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Lynne Johnson of LaPorte, IN, a son, Mr. David Johnson of LaPorte, IN, a grandson, Mr. Mathew Johnson of Perth, Australia, a sister, Mrs. Kathryn Jean Gale of Phoenix, AZ, a sister, Mrs. Arvilla Archer of Maryville, TN. Mr. Johnson has 1 grandchild. The Funeral will be at the First Christian Church on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 10:30 AM, with Rev. Rick Abbott officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., and from 9:00 AM until time of service, at the church. Burial will be in Meadow Lake Cemetery, Wolcott, IN. Excelsior Lodge #41 F&AM will conduct a Masonic Service. 7:00 PM Tuesday, at Haverstock Funeral Home.
