Robert Eldon Coburn

Robert Eldon Coburn Jr., 80, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday December 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born May 19, 1940 in Morgantown, West Virginia, the son of Robert Coburn Sr. and Thelma Mae (Savage) Coburn.

On June 30, 1959 in Baltimore, Robert married the love of his life, Mary Madeline Mullin, who survives.  He moved to this area 54 years ago from Baltimore, MD. A professional landscaper for over 50 years, Robert was one of the lucky few who truly enjoyed his work. His own yard was immaculate and he loved maintaining his house and tinkering with his vehicles.  He enjoyed working jigsaw and crossword puzzles as well.  His greatest joy, though, was his wife and family.

Along with his wife of 61 years, Robert is also survived by his three sons, Robert (Barb) Coburn III of La Porte, IN, Charles (Debra) Coburn of La Porte, IN, Dominic (Michelle) Coburn of La Porte, IN; two brothers, Richard "Rick" (Jenieva) Coburn of La Porte, IN, Chuck (Debbie) Coburn of Westville, IN; two sisters, Barbara Ann Meeks of La Porte, IN, Jean Coburn Flinchum of La Porte, IN; eight grandchildren, Jim (Stephanie) Newland, Donnie Newland, Christopher Newland,  Chase (Tina) Coburn, Skyler (Carly) Coburn, Chaz Coburn, DeCeasar Coburn, Brittany (Tim) Coburn Strakowsky; and 7 great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his son, Brian Keith Coburn, daughter, Debra Coburn Newland and brother, Ronald "Bud" Coburn.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. The family has selected cremation.
