Robert Blank

Mr. Robert Roy Blank, 80, of 611 E. Jefferson Ave., LaPorte, died Monday, March 28, 2005, at 6:15 a.m. at Countryside Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LaPorte. He was born Sept. 7, 1924, in LaPorte to Roy and Rachael Trapp Blank, and had lived all his life in the LaPorte area. Mr. Blank retired in 1984 as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years. He was co-owner of Rob Roy?s Cigar Store, Frost Top Drive-In and Bowl-A-Way Lanes, all in LaPorte. He was a 1942 graduate of LaPorte High School. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in LaPorte, Swanson Activity Center for Older Adults, LaPorte Moose Lodge 492, Hubner Swanson VFW Post 1130, American Legion Post 83, American Legion Skwiat Post 451 of Michigan City, Club Pool League, Senior Pool League, and Seniors Bowling League. He was a U.S. Navy Seabees veteran of World War II. On April 21, 1950, in LaPorte, he married Marjorie Routt, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Les Levenhagen of LaPorte and Cynthia Mark Wallis of Bloomington; one son, Randall of LaPorte; and four grandchildren, Sarah, Tara, Rhett and Mark. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, June. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Douglas Hadley officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Moose Lodge 492 memorial service at 7 p.m.; and Friday from 9 a.m. until the service.
