Richard Sawyer

Richard E. Sawyer, 50, of 15½ Eggebrecht Rd., Apt. 4, LaPorte, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at 11:51 p.m. at his home. He was born Feb. 19, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, to Harry F. and Helen M. Biesser Sawyer, and had lived in LaPorte for 38 years, coming from Dayton. Mr. Sawyer was a former employee of Fiber Bond in the shipping and receiving department, and had also worked for The Herald-Argus for 16 years as a cartoonist and in the mailroom. He enjoyed comic books, art, music and computers. Surviving are two sons, Conan and Erik, both of LaPorte; his former spouse, Margaret of LaPorte; one sister, Annette Sorah of Glendale, Ariz.; and one brother, Tom Reva of Dayton. His parents preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Hugh M. Smith officiating. There will be no visitation.
