Richard Lee Mullenhour

Richard Lee Mullenhour, 70, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his residence.
He was born January 20, 1953 in Lima, Ohio, the son of Roland and Ruth (Golden) Mullenhour.
Richard graduated from high school in New Jersey and started working with the Penn Central Railroad as a Carmen. He moved to Ft. Wayne, where he continued with Conrail, then in 1989 moved to this area with the Norfolk Southern Railroad, from which he retired after 38 years in 2012. Over the years as a railroader, he was a welder and heavy machine operator, finishing as a crane driver. On December 10, 1994, in La Porte, he married Dana Craig, who preceded him in death on December 6, 2022. Together they enjoyed socializing with friends, especially at the Polish National Alliance Club 1120 in La Porte. Richard's favorite NASCAR driver was Rusty Wallace and he loved watching the races every weekend. His other sport was football and the Bears and the Colts were the teams he followed.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Jamie) Mullenhour of Michigan City, IN, Richard (Alejandra) Mullenhour of Monroe, WI; daughter, Christina Lamb of White Oak, NC; two brothers, Bob (Kiyoko) Mullenhour of Sacramento, CA, John (Linda) Mullenhour of Ft. Wayne, IN; two sisters, Lois (Bob) Campbell of Olive Branch, MS, Peggy (Kraig) Keller of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Richard Antonio, Noelle, Channing, Quinn and Lillian; close friend and the mother of his children, Cathy Joe Watson of Michigan City, IN and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife of 22 years, Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol Weaver and his step-sons, Robert and Chris Couter
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will host a gathering of family and friends on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. central time. Cremation will take place with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio at a later date.
